Launch-week questions
Each summary is a real player question from store pages and the Launch FAQ. Answers stay inside sealed claims. Expand one at a time. The first question is multiplayer because that is the mode flag people miss when Steam also shows Sports as a mis-tag.
Sources: Steam community announcements for the Launch FAQ, the Bit Reactor Q&A, Steam appdetails for flags and languages, and EA’s Lead article for Hawks/Den/combat pointers. Links sit under the list. If two answers seem to collide, the dated store flag wins for commerce and the FAQ sentence wins for systems.

Is there multiplayer?
No. Steam, PlayStation, and EA list STAR WARS Zero Company as single-player / 1 player. There is no multiplayer mode on the captured store pages. You command Hawks and Zero Company through a campaign against Kundri Fathom, not other players. If a later mode appears, it will need a new first-party store flag before this answer changes.
Does the Steam version need the EA App?
The Launch FAQ states the Steam version is Steam native and does not require the EA App launcher. You still need accounts the Steam legal notice names (EA Account, Steam Account, EA User Agreement). Buying on the EA app or Epic is a different storefront path; this answer is about the Steam SKU captured on 28 August 2026.
Is it verified on Steam Deck?
The Launch FAQ states the game will not be Steam Deck verified at launch. Steam’s own platforms flags are Windows true, mac false, linux false. Unverified is not the same as “impossible to boot,” and this wiki will not publish unofficial Deck frame rates. Wait for Valve’s verification badge or a first-party update.
How long is the campaign?
Lead producer Caydence Funk estimated about 30–40 hours for an average player to finish the main campaign, depending on difficulty and tactics experience. That is an estimate from the Steam Q&A, not a speedrun board. Difficulty, optional Operations, and how often you reset after injuries will move your clock.
Is there permadeath?
Yes, on by default, and you can toggle it off. Three Injuries permanently remove an operator on standard difficulty. Hawks dying fails the mission even when other operators might have been recoverable. Memorial exists in The Den as a named facility. This is systems copy from EA and the Launch FAQ, not a rumor about ironman scores.
What languages does the game ship?
Eleven interface languages: English, French, Italian, German, Spanish (Spain), Japanese, Korean, Polish, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Portuguese (Brazil). English, German, and Brazilian Portuguese have full audio. Russian, Ukrainian, Thai, Vietnamese, Indonesian, and Turkish are not in that list. This wiki’s extra locales are for readers, not an in-game UI claim. See Platforms for the full table.
Can I play with a controller?
Steam lists DualShock Controller Support, DualSense Controller Support, Partial Controller Support, and Xbox controller support. The Launch FAQ says the game is mostly playable with Xbox Series and PS5 controllers on PC, with keyboard needed for some text fields. Partial support is the honest store flag; do not read it as full keyboard-free UI.
Are there microtransactions?
The Launch FAQ states there are no plans for monetization or microtransactions at this time. Deluxe cosmetics already exist as a SKU, which is not the same as a live shop. If EA later sells something else, the live storefront wins. This answer is the August 2026 FAQ sentence, dated with the rest of the capture.
Is more DLC coming?
Official FAQ: the team has nothing to announce for DLC or post-launch content beyond the Deluxe cosmetics that already exist. Deluxe Upgrade is Steam 3701350. Treat “nothing to announce” as an empty calendar, not a secret roadmap. This wiki will not preview unannounced packs.
Is there New Game+?
Official FAQ: no New Game+ at launch; subsequent playthroughs unlock certain customization options. That is not a full NG+ loop and not a New Game++ rumor. Customization unlocking on later runs is the only extra the FAQ names. Outfits remain cosmetic.
Are mods supported?
Official FAQ: no official mod support is planned. Do not expect a first-party toolkit from that sentence. Community tools would be unofficial and are not listed here. Steam Workshop is not in the captured feature flags. Until Bit Reactor publishes a toolkit, this wiki will not file a mods route or a loadout builder that pretends to be one.
Does it support ultrawide?
The Launch FAQ states 21:9 and 32:9 ultrawide monitors are supported. Combine that with the PC spec table on First deployment if you are buying a panel for this game. This is a display-support sentence, not an FOV slider dump — Bit Reactor did not publish slider ranges in the FAQ.
Relation to other tactics games
STAR WARS Zero Company is a single-player turn-based tactics RPG in the Clone Wars. It shares a genre neighborhood with games like XCOM. That is a type fact. It is not a license to copy another game’s aim percentages, cover grades, or campaign length into this FAQ. Use Tactical combat for 3 AP, Overwatch cones, and Advantage cap 10.
Jedi: Fallen Order adjacency is similarly thin: same publisher family and Star Wars setting, different genre. Do not expect a soulslike control scheme here. Controllers are supported as flagged on Steam; the combat layer is still a tactics board.
Turn-based tactics is the shared type with XCOM-like games. Cover, AP, and Overwatch here follow EA’s Zero Company article, not another franchise’s math. Jedi: Fallen Order is a different genre under a related publisher family. Use Platforms for store flags and Tactical combat for the eight Specializations. Aim formulas stay unpublished.
Should you buy it on day two?
Steam’s machine aggregate on 28 August 2026 is Mostly Positive, score 6, 2037/2753 all-language and 1614/2173 English. That is the honest reception stamp. Combine it with the 30–40 hour estimate, the missing languages if yours is unsupported, Deck unverified, and Deluxe being cosmetics. Editions and Platforms hold the SKU and language tables.
This FAQ will not tell you to buy or skip. It will tell you the game is single-player, Steam-native on PC, permadeath togglable, and finished enough that Bit Reactor published a thank-you letter on launch day. Reception can move; the capture date stays on the home docket.
Mostly Positive, score 6, 2037/2753 and 1614/2173 on 28 August 2026 is the reception stamp. Deluxe is cosmetics. Unsupported wiki locales are not in-game languages. Deck is unverified. Combine those facts yourself; this FAQ will not issue a buy or skip verdict. Live store price always wins over the dated SRP.
